Aaron Tillison has always been interested in youth work and sports and has been a keen footballer since he was aged 3 he worked for SESKU Academy many years ago on the future jobs fund and has always got involved in activities and special events held at our community centre. Aaron showed a big interest in our projects and wanted to get involved on the board of trustees to help to develop sports delivery in schools. Aaron has completed a Fitness Instructor course and achieved a Cross Fit Level 2 Instructor qualification.  The aim of Cross Fit is to forge a broad, general and inclusive fitness which develops children’s functional movements. Fitting in with our aim for at SESKU Academy which is to improve health and fitness in young people.

Aaron was asked to join SESKU Academy on a temporary basis due to a long serving employee moving on to a better career. Aaron was supportive and fitted straight into the role, which he used to develop a young sports volunteers team. We decided to help him develop his skills and qualifications while he was working at SESKU Academy and funded several courses around sports and a teaching qualification PTTLS. Aaron has good skills and attitude when working with young people and helped children and young people to get involved in local sports clubs and also injected new ideas to current projects which both improved and grew as a result.

Aaron has made a big impact at SESKU Academy and brought fresh ideas and worked hard to build relationships with local sports clubs and activities to give young people more options and information about what’s available in our local areas, he has helped build confidence and wellbeing in children and young people. Aaron will be sadly missed at SESKU Academy, but we are happy he has now moved on with his own business running football and sports/ Cross Fit sessions at after school clubs thanks to the support and training he has gained while working at SESKU Academy, reasontly Aaron has been offered a regular sports coaching role within Stockingate Junior School where he has continued to improve children’s health and increase opportunities in sports.
